"Yahaha" A Korok appears out of nowhere, it appears they have a game for you to play.
They want you to build mini tree-house villages, whoever can build the best village will win the game!
This challenge is based on the board game Mint Works, if you know that game then you know how to play!
Click here to view the spreadsheet you will be playing on
Each round will have 2 Phases:
1) Actions: Players take turns doing 1 action each until they either run out of Rupees, run out of actions to do or both players pass.
2) Upkeep: During the upkeep phase you will gain Rupees earned from buildings and we will check how many Seeds players have to see if anyone has won the game. (Full details below)
During the game you will need to build up your neighbourhoods to gain Seeds, to build a building you must do the following 2 things:
1) Buy a plan from the supply area (Labelled 1 below)
2) Build the plan from your neighbourhood area (Labelled 3 below, Yellow cards are Plans, Green cards are Buildings)
Once a plan has been built it will then provide you with Rupees during the Upkeep phase, any bonus powers and some Seeds, e.g in King Hyrule's neighbourhood below, his Factory gains him 1 Rupee during upkeep and 3 Seeds
This is your game board:
Full details on Section 1:
This is the Supply area, there are up to 3 plans you may buy, once a plan has been bought it is removed from this area.
Each plan has the following bits of information:
1) Name - Name of the plan
2) Building type - Culture (Generally provide Seeds) Production (Generally provide Rupees) Utility (Generally gives powers) Deed (Opens up special actions)
3) Cost - This is how much a card costs when you buy the plan
4) Upkeep - This is how many Rupees a built card gives you during the upkeep phase
5) Seeds - This is how many Seeds a built card gives you
6) Other Powers - This is any special powers this card has
Actions and Section 2:
Each row can only be used once per round, if a row is Green then it can be used, some actions have 2 rows and so can be used twice during that round.
To use a row, write your character name at the end (As shown with King Hyrule), if you wish to use the Supplier or Builder action then write the Plan or Card number you wish to use this action on with your name (As shown with Zelda 2, Zelda built their Card 2)
1) Producer - Spend 1 Rupee to gain 2 Rupees.
2) Supplier - Spend X Rupees to gain a plan from the supply. (X= the cost of said plan)
3) Builder - Spend 2 Rupees to build a plan you have.
4) Leadership - Spend 1 Rupee to be the first player next round
Wholesaler and Lotto are closed at the start of the game, if a player builds one of these plans then that action is now available, the player who owns these deeds will gain Rupees during Upkeep if that action is used.
5) Wholesaler - Spend 1 Rupee to gain 2 Rupees, whoever owns Wholesaler gains 1 Rupee in Upkeep if this action is used
6) Lotto - Spend 3 Rupees to gain a random plan from the deck, whoever owns Lotto gains 2 Rupees in Upkeep if this action is used
You may also choose Pass as an action. This will only end the round if your opponent also chooses to Pass. If your opponent takes an action, you may then choose another action. You may Pass multiple times, unlike the other possible actions on a turn.
Full details on Section 3:
This is your neighbourhood, Plans you have bought will show up in Yellow, buildings you have built will show up in Green.
The total Rupees you're gaining during the upkeep are shown here as well as the number of Seeds you have collected
You will start the game with 3 Rupees
Upkeep!
At the end of each round we follow the following steps:
1) If any player has 7 or more Seeds the game ends and we check for a winner
2) Refill the Supply Area (section 1) with cards
3) Players gain Rupees = to the value of their Upkeep
4) Players with Deeds gain Upkeep if that Deeds action has been used
5) All players gain 1 Rupee
Checking for a winner:
Once in the end game we check for the following things, if it's a tie we keep going down the list until a winner is selected
1) The player with the most Seeds wins
2) The player with the most cards in their neighbourhood (both buildings and plans) wins
3) The player with the most Rupees wins
4) The player with the first player token wins
We will play 3 games, the winner of 2 games will win the challenge and be our final finalist.
