Finally in the top half, at least unless there are people still Edge of Extinctioning out there. (please no)
I was kind of expecting the return to two tribes, and kind of glad for it! It means that we don't have to deal with another round of massive amounts of PMing, and also once this round is over, we'll be down to the Final 8, which is a pretty moderate amount of PMing! (Or, I'll just be out of the game, which... also means less PMing.)
Anyway, considering I apparently dislike PM's so much, I'm rather proud of myself for making it this far, no matter how this turns up.
The downside of this twist is that this tribe is tough. Most of the people I would want to vote off are on the other tribe. Of this tribe, my preferred target would be Epona... but that's a tough freaking sell considering everyone loves her. We'll see where this goes haha. I also think these tribes might have formed by design, with the 5 most "popular" players on this tribe and the 5 less popular players on the other tribe. Of course, if I'm wrong, then I will seem very arrogant for suggesting this when I'm actually like 8th in the rankings or something.

Step 1 is to pledge undying loyalty to each of these 4 people, and anticipate and resolve any possible damage control with Kass, Epona, or Urbosa.
Also, Kohga is now someone I feel pretty 100% with after the last vote. My preference for the next vote would be Epona > Kass > Urbosa > Kohga.
Also, I still remember about Kass's vote steal - don't know if I mentioned this in confessional. That is an extremely powerful advantage in these 5 person tribes so getting on Kass's good side here is critical.

Kohga noted to me that "it actually says that somewhere" when I pointed out that our tribe was probably comprised of the 5 most popular players. Once again, it appears closely reading mod posts is not my strong suit.

So Epona seems to lean towards targeting Kass. Urbosa is vaguely hinting at someone with "centralized connections" which could be Epona, but possibly Kass. Kohga is leaning towards Urbosa. I am leaning towards Epona. Haven't gotten a chance to speak to Kass, yet, but she's got a vote steal! This will be a delightful sort of mess. Good twist, mods.  I'm sure many players are complaining, but that's what players do. (Though if you bring in any more Edge of Extinction people, I'll definitely start complaining - don't take it personally, please.) |

Just on a random positive note, I'm really glad I got over that midgame burnout, because I'm having a ton of fun with this again. Regardless of my ultimate placement, I feel like I'm playing better than I've ever played before - and I don't think it's particularly close. Since it took a global pandemic to get me to play this game, I'm not sure if/when I'll ever play Survivor again. But last time I retired after a few consecutive pre-merge placements... it's nice to come back and at least retire with a fairly decent showing here. |

So I'm at this awkward point in Survivor where I'm definitely lying to someone, but I don't know yet who I'm lying to. If people are being honest with me, it's either Kass or Epona.
I think I'm probably lying to Kass. I feel a bit like a shitbag.
Urbosa also told me about a potential alliance of me/Urbosa/Oven/Revali. I am trying to add Kohga into that group.
Kass wants to work with me/Sidon/Kohga/Patricia aka her connections in the last challenge. I feel like I like this alliance better, although Patricia's involvement will always make me nervous. Maybe I'll have to get over that at some point.
My mind for this vote is changing back and forth ugh.

I think in a vacuum, keeping Kass is better for me than keeping Epona. Kass seems to want to work with the same people I want to work with, other than Patricia. And since Revali and Sidon are both immune on the other side, we guarantee that at least one of Patricia/Oven/Oaki is eliminated, which pretty much destroys that "underdog alliance" that may or may not actually exist. My question here is (1) Could Urbosa possibly be willing to vote out Epona this round? And if not, (2) is it still beneficial to make the move even if it means leaving Urbosa out of it? I am also really putting all my eggs into the Kohga basket and telling him an inadvisable amount of information at this point. I feel like having an ally who you have 100% trust in can be extremely valuable. I'm giving him a ton of ammo to betray me if he wants, and if he does, then I'll just have to go yell at him after the game is over. |

Yeah I feel like I really overestimated how well I was playing and I feel dumb. Apparently I was playing under the radar? I was worried about people being mad that I betrayed them but the overwhelming sense that I'm getting is that the other players didn't care about me enough or value our alliances to the point that it even mattered that I "betrayed" them. I was mostly just a pawn to the dominant alliance and got voted off once I became expendable. And now despite being one of the last 8 players to never be voted off, I'm technically "12th place" and a pre-merge boot. Hardly the solid career send off I was hoping for.
I'm kind of hoping Kohga makes it to the F3 because I really want to see why he betrayed me, when it happened, and if he regrets it. If he can convince me that voting me off was good for his game, then I'll vote for him to win.

I'm really wondering where I went wrong... because being under the radar was not what I was going for. I put hours into this game every day, but was I supposed to put even more time in? Or did I just fail to make strong social bonds? Once it got to the merge, the strategy was so hectic that there really wasn't enough time to talk about much else. And I feel like I was really out of the loop when it came to other people and their idols and advantages and stuff. Like how did other people know Kohga had an idol but I didn't?
Anyway, this is just me ranting and wallowing in my loss here. I'm fine, just a tad bitter.

Thanks. <3 I had a lot of fun this game, and semantically, I'll probably count myself as a post-merge boot and tied for 10th place with Patricia. Whatever the official declaration is doesn't matter too much.  I guess getting voted off just sucks, especially when I'm not sure exactly why. I thought I was voted off because I leaked too much info to Kohga and put all my trust in him, but Zeldas's post suggested that I was put in a bad position at the last swap. From my own perspective, I thought I was in a swing position and I fucked it up. Otherwise, if being on a tribe with 4 allies makes me swap screwed, then it looks like none of those allies were legit, which means my whole entire game might have been an illusion. I get you can't comment too deeply on any of this, and I know post-game I can find the answers I'm looking for. |
