Hmm, I agree with what you're saying but I have a counter argument.
I think there's gonna be a lot of players who look at this round and realise that they have less friends then they thought they had, yes this round itself is gonna be hard for those on the bottom but future rounds are gonna be so much better and once they get through this round it'll be a lot easier as there'll be more in fighting, hence why we gave immunity to the player at the very bottom.

I want players to be self-aware of their position. I don't want them to learn of their position through a twist. general thrust of this post is admirable but its logical conclusion seeks to invalidate challenges as having any role in the strategic fabric of the game which seems misguided |

Yeah we'll see. Even if that happens, I feel kind of gross about it, but tbh I have faith in good players to convince people that they're with them despite evidence to the contrary. That's kind of what they do.
And as it stands, some uncontroversial boot who wasn't in immediate danger (because Oaki existed) is probably going home rn with limited opportunity to save themselves.

Okay so let's speculate. So Epo and Urbo like me, at least enough to have me in Final 6. This confirms a few suspicions I had: 1. I was like a final 8 boot because Sidon and Khoga would want that. 2. Royal Horse wasn't as invested in our Final 3 as I wanted him to be, which means the threatening ideas of him from the jury are definitely intriguing. 3. I need to flip with Hunnie and Oven like yesterday, I am in bad bad bad need of more allies cause the ones I was relying on getting me further in the game is not the one that actually gets me further in the game. This makes me really really mad cause like I need to take up Patricia's offer but can't openly say that and like, I might have to consider working with OAKI of all people, but hey, ya know what at least I know instead of blindly walking to my death. Still I'm incredibly worried that the fact that I know I am not in the majority might cause them to cut me here at 11 instead of waiting for me to try and flip the game. This is exactly what we hoped for with this challenge and I feel like Revali is the type of person who'd try to make some form of move this round, despite the limited communications |

I feel like the way to make this twist good is to just be like

Then when the challenge ends reveal it as 6
That way
1. people know what's gonna happen and freak out for more drama, but at least they feel like they can control it
2. since you can plan ahead of time, targets will probably be thrown out, and strength of connections will be tested to see if the plans will succeed with 24 hours of limited communication (they probably won't)
3. you could actually go for immunity by asking people to rank you last, but run the risk of ending up isolated and blindsided
3.5 plus there is a ton of wifom in where you rank the people you want to eliminate... 3rd last? 4th last? too much co-ordination required in only 24h and too many voices
4. it encourages those fun competing alliances to compete with each other and you get a cool sociogram out of it
5. it is more indicative of loyalty VS boot order, some people want to drag a goat they can't trust to the end

i empathise with the people moaning and groaning (even if it's partly their propensity to habitually moan and groan) and i do think there are ways to improve this challenge I bet a lot of people are complaining, but I love this! This is exactly the sort of fresh nonsense I was hoping for from this game. but i agree with hunnie |

I just wonder if it had been so long since the last bastard game that people had forgotten that games like this are designed with fuckery as intent, not just incidental, and not fully meant to work nicely in a normal nice properly balanced game.

i don't think it's entirely appropriate to say that players should simply accept any level of manipulation by way of the game being 'bastard' but certainly i don't think that this style of manipulation is beyond the pale

I think it's more that it's easy to forget as a player that 'bastard' and 'fun' don't always meet each other in the middle. Fun must be sacrificed to make way for wacky twists and fuckery
