Adventurers! Along your journey, you come across many materials. You've gotten everything from apples, to mushrooms, to bird eggs, to goat butter and more. As you traverse the many hills and rocky terrains of Hyrule, you realize the sun is about to set and it would be a good idea to make camp. You find a relatively flat area that is pretty secure from enemies and you sit down to have a bite to eat. But you are bored of the average, regular apple and feel like its time to test out some of the great recipes you've picked up along the way. Unfortunately, some of the ingredients are a bit of a mystery to you, so you are going to have to do some cooking experimentation involving measuring ingredients to determine the perfect solution! Rules: 1. You will be presented with a series of picture based math equations. It will be your job to determine which values are associated with each picture in order to solve the equations. 2. The link below will take you to a form, on your first go click starting and it'll provide you with the pictures for the equations. 3. When you believe you have the solution for the Fresh Milk (White Bottle), Goron Spice (Red Bottle) and Monster Extract (Purple Bottle) (will make more sense when you begin), resubmit your form and click finishing to submit your answer 4. You must then check your answer and make sure it's correct, to do so click on view score and scroll to the bottom, check your score as shown below (specifically the red box), it should say 3 of 3 points if you're correct 5. If your score is incorrect you must resubmit the form and give a new solution. You will also be able to see if any specific answers to the Milk, Spice or Extract were correct to help you when you go back to check. (As shown in the blue box above) 6. Every incorrect answer will add 3 minutes to your time 7. Standard order of operations (PEMDAS) rules apply to this challenge. (Parenthesis first, Exponents second, Multiply/Divide third, Add/Subtract last). Please let us know if this doesn't make sense or you have questions about what this is. 8. You must NOT discuss this challenge with any other player. Every tribe will go to tribal tonight, in each tribe the player who submits the correct answer in the fastest time will win immunity. Click here to start the challengeIf you have any additional questions, please contact a mod. May your arrows fly straight and true adventurers! Best of luck. Hello adventurers, Cooking isn't as easy as you thought, was it? There were some truly tough numbers to crunch in this challenge, however it wasn't just about numbers...the true challenge was in the detail! What does this mean? This means that although we gave you images, you also had to pay attention to what the image actually represented. For example: In the first image the mushroom cluster represented the number 3. However, in the next line down there was also a mushroom cluster...but this one represented 2. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?! Well, if you actually look at the picture, the first cluster had "3 mushrooms" in it. In the second line, there were "2 mushrooms" in it. Therefore, the values actually had to do with the number of mushrooms in the cluster, rather than the mushroom cluster itself. So what were the values & how did we determine them? Let's find out! Each Mushroom in the cluster represented 1. Each "spike" on the octoballoon represented 1. Each apple represented 1. Each fin on the fish represented 1. Each bone half on the meat represented 1. Each individual banana represented 1. Each "comb/spot" on the honeycomb represented 1. Each "tier" on the shell represented 1. Each "point" on the star represented 1. Each leg on the crab represented 1.
For visual reference, the puzzles again: As such, let's see how the math worked out and what the solutions were: Puzzle 1: 3 (# of mushrooms) + 8 (spikes on the octoballoon) - 10 = 1 3 + 8 = 11 - 10 = 1
1 (# of apples) x 5 (# of fish fins) + 2 - 2 (# of mushrooms) = 5 5 + 2 = 7 - 2 = 5
4 (# of apples) x 7 (spikes on the octoballoon) + 5 (# of fish fins) - 10 - 3 (# of mushrooms) = Milk 4 x 7 = 28 + 5 = 33 - 10 = 23 - 3 = 20
Milk = 20
Puzzle 2:
20 (milk) / 2 (# of bone halves protruding from meat) + 5 (# of bananas) = 15 20 / 2 = 10 + 5 = 15
14 (# of combs/spots on honeycomb) - 4 (# of tiers on seashell) x 1 (# of bone halves protruding from meat) = 10 Due to order of operations: First, 4 x 1 = 4. then, 14-4 = 10
11 (# of combs/spots on honeycomb) x 3 (# of tiers on seashell) - 5 (# of bananas) + 4 (# of bananas) / 2 (# of bone halves protruding from meat) + 1 (# of bone halves protruding from meat) = Goron Spice Due to Order of Operations: First, 11 x 3 = 33. then, 4/2 = 2. finally, 33 - 5 = 28 +2 = 30 + 1 = 31
Goron Spice = 31
Puzzle 3:
3 (# of mushrooms) x 10 (# of points on the star) + 4 (# of legs on the crab) - 31 (Goron Spice) = 3 3 x 10 = 30 + 4 = 34 - 31 = 3
3 (# of crab legs) + 31 (Goron Spice) - 3 x 20 (Milk) + 4 (# of tiers on the seashell) / 2 (# of mushrooms) - 20 (Milk) x 2 (# of apples) + 10 (# of points on the star) x 12 (# of combs/spots on honeycomb) + 5 (# of fins on fish) x 7 (# of spikes on octoballoon) + 15 x 2 (# of bone halves protruding from meat) = Monster Extract
Due to Order of operations: First 3 x 20 = 60. then, 4 / 2 = 2. next, 20 x 2 = 40. followed by, 10 x 12 = 120. also, 5 x 7 = 35. subsequently, 15 x 2 = 30.
FINALLY: 3 + 31 = 34 - 60 = -26 + 2 = -24 - 40 = -64 + 120 = 56 + 35 = 91 + 30 = 121
Monster Extract = 121
So, now that we've deduced how the math worked and what the solution to the puzzle was, who finished? On Tribe Heart Container: Revali Urbosa
On Tribe Stamina Vessel: Ancient Oven Patricia
On Tribe Spirit Orb: Kass
But which three did it the fastest?! Heart Container Results Revali with a time of: 1:02:56 with 3 mistakes. Tribe Stamina Results Patricia with a time of: 3:28:15 with 34 mistakes Spirit Orb Results As the only person to finish on this tribe, Kass's time of 11:39:39 wins it, even with 135 mistakes.
Congrats to our three winners. We will see all tribes for Tribal Council where one of the remaining players on each tribe who isn't immune will be the next to fall in battle. See you at Tribal Council and may the Goddess continue to bless and protect you.
