A long time ago, back before I was known as Princess Zelda, I was just a little girl. I would dream of things like meeting someone who would make my heart come alive, of machines that could traverse the seas and air, and of growing up to be as beautiful as my mom. I lived carefree, not knowing of the destiny that awaited me in my later years. If anyone had told me that I was to inherit the powers of the sacred maiden and have a destiny to try and contain Calamity Ganon, I would have just laughed and said what a silly story. Instead, I became infatuated with learning about everything around me, from the flowers to the trees. Maybe I would never fill my mother’s shoes, but I would be my own person.
And so I followed my dreams to become a great scholar, to catalog everything in the lands of Hyrule. It was something that filled me with absolute delight. I got to travel the lands, see sights that most little girls would only dream of, and meet the great inhabitants of our wonderful land.
However, all dreams come to an end. That day came when the signs of Calamity Ganon appeared, and then I was forced into a path I didn’t want. And unfortunately, I was unable to come into my own until our darkest hour, which is what caused much of the destruction of our beautiful kingdom and these beautiful lands. I spent so long fighting my destiny in pursuit of a path I actually wanted to fill, that it ended up hurting everyone around me, which is why we now find ourselves in great peril.
It’s all my fault. Blame me. I’m the one who did this.
But I will never give up. I will hold out until my last breath until one of you is able to reach me and help me right the wrong I committed in my youth. This is the least I can do for you all.
If you think you are alone, that the darkness of life will consume you, and that you don’t feel you can do something, I want to remind you of the following facts:
1. You are braver than you believe.
2. You are stronger than you seem.
3. You are smarter than you think.
I see the struggles you all go through on a daily basis and I know how hard this journey can be. You were all chosen because you represented something that the Goddess of Lore values more than anything. You have all survived harder things than this adventure in your lives. You are heroes in every sense of the word. You can do this. Don’t ever give up, my Adventurers. I believe in each and every one of you.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
We are all here with you. The Guides, the Sheikah, the spirits of those who constantly support you…
We are all here. And we see you and root for you. It’s okay not to be okay. There is strength in weakness. There is always a dawn after the darkness.
Adventurers, I will be with you through this journey.
I believe in you.
You can do this.
