i have so many questions here i don’t even know where to begin. for starters, in the video there seemed to be actual “wonders” but here it just seems you choose what you want your wonder to produce? does it make one per turn or what? can you build more than one stage of a wonder per age? does construction impact production? when you say costs of things are usually based on a resource you “are producing” does that mean it’s a one time cost or ongoing? so like if i have 4 things making stone and 4 things costing stone can i build a new thing that costs one stone? sorry, it is just so hard to get a handle on what this is without having the game.
bot questions: why does the sample bot just say “canversary” at the opening of age 2? why is the sample bot so good that it’s better than anything i could make? how much can i take from it?
“Card used for discard/Wonder:
-The card that'd be worth the most points (and affordable) to the player who currently has the most points“
this seems so broad, like could i just say “play card that gives me the most victory points”? obviously not but gosh i am confused.

thanks!! i know your clarification was mostly for me and i appreciate it. i did find they had it on boardgamearena but im still unsure when ill get the time to work on this one. as not-a-flash-game this is actually one i would have a decent shot at, although if my opponents know the board game that would be a big challenge.

this is an insanely complicated game to learn all on your lonesome. been playing on boardgamearena for an hour now and it's not enough to start programming a bot at all.

the others i got last
still not really learning this thing. theres too much. cant learn without playing irl

 wow i won a game. still dont quite understand how the game works i think itll take me like 6 more hours. glass and papyrus and other shit? wtf is going on. i think anyone who doesnt know the game going in has a practically insurmountable obstacle to overcome. i think it could take me 12+ hours nonstop of playing boardgamearena, which i sought out on my own because im so motivated, to have any fucking clue. |

oh well. you cant say i didnt try. i just test played for 2 huors and im not close to knowing how to play. it's debatable that im even beginning to get it, and the sample bot is likely still extremely better than anything i could ever write. learning this online isnt realistic.

the fact is that from where im sitting not a single challenge is puntable. i basically have to win every single one.
yet there is no way to figure out and do this challenge, it’s simply not realistic at all. that’s what i get for getting my ass voted out i guess. learning this from scratch is not a realistic ask and i will have to simply copy the sample to the fullest extent that’s allowed.
i would recommend using a game that’s realistically learnable to newcomers so that the writing of the bot is a sensible challenge.

sorry for being so defeatist there! take all those posts as a window into watching the reality of doom dawn on someone in real time. lol
the practice helped me get the game flow down but i think now i need to study the cards. i do think this will be a loss but ill try to get something turned in

yeah ive just gotten into such a dead end trying to understand how strategy for this game works that im fixated on the dead end itself, and it's blocking me from actually learning anything or making any progress. just hopelessly looking at the card list, clicking around, writing a few notes... sigh. you can count on a pile of crap instructions to be posted at 11:59pm

mods are NOT sods thank you to the mod team for being flexible and patient with me. i dont know why i was spinning my wheels so hard on this, it extremely intimidated me for some reason after i had trouble grasping it last night. that was more a me problem than anything else id have to imagine. ty for the extra time i hope it didnt put you out.
