Here you'll find the spreadsheet to create your beast, this spreadsheet has 2 sheets on it, a ‘Creation’ sheet and a ‘Beast’ sheet, typing anything into any cell on the ‘Creation’ sheet will fill in that same cell on the ‘Beast’ sheet Your ‘Beasts’ should look a little bit like a Maze with the starting point being the Green Square and the ending point being the Red Square You may discuss how you want to make your beasts or just go straight in and start designing, just remember that however it looks in 24 hours is how it'll end Make sure you sign out of google or use incognito mode before clicking on the spreadsheet Click here to make your beast

I'm a little tired right now so I'll be headed to bed soon and working on the challenge in the morning, I think >.> But I have a couple of thoughts going in: Easiest way to solve most mazes is starting from the end and going backwards. The fake branches off'f the main path often head in the direction of the end (because otherwise people won't take them), so by going backwards it's usually pretty obvious which path is the main path. A good way to avoid this being the case would be to designate a 'meeting point' somewhere, and then work on the maze from both ends. It means if someone is doing it forwards, it will probably be slightly easier than a regular maze, but I think a lot of people know the 'go backwards' trick. In terms of making the maze itself difficult, the key is going to be having a few very deep fake branches, and a fair number of shorter dead ends coming off each branch. A very abstract example: Obviously you want the branches to be more bendy than this
Having deep fake branches means they have to go back a long way to find out where they went wrong, and having shorter dead ends off'f them makes it harder to determine whether that's a bad route just by scanning it.
That's my thoughts off the bat!

Good evening, team! Super happy to find myself with the both of you I'm about to grab some food, but I'll be back shortly to work on our beasty. Thanks for the tips, Kass! I'll have sporadic access tomorrow afternoon, so I am going to do as much as I can to help tonight and in the morning!

Ah, yes! My first thought was having some really long, convincing fake paths. It seems like the best way to waste time. I don't think that making the real path look like backtracking is too likely to be a good strategy, surely everyone will think of that. Perhaps we could use this "meeting place" as a spot to change up our design? Someone who's gotten through half of it and started to get used to what we're doing might be thrown off if we started taking a different tack, perhaps.

Also, this probably is premature, but I have strong opinions about how to handle these joint tribals and it's to stick together. To do otherwise, to break, is to put ourselves at the other tribe's mercy and allow them complete power over the outcome. I have no desire to do that. I expect we will want to do this anyway after getting to know each other, but just putting it out there, I think anything but a united front is poor play. Hopefully that increases your feelings of security.

Since we will be solving these mazes with photo editing software, it would probably be a good idea to make sure that, within the fake paths, there are A LOT of meandering routes — corridors that loop back on each other, abrupt changes, etc. — that will slow people down even further. If we can wear them down as they make it to the center of the maze and then change up the design as they feel like they are making progress, it could frustrate people enough to throw them off any rhythm they had.

I somehow missed your follow-up post, Kohga — my apologies! Presenting a united front sounds like the best (and safest) path forward to me as well. I appreciate you saying so, too. I'll do what I can to ensure we evade Tribal Council entirely and have even more time to get to know one another. Go team!

It's past my bedtime. Haven't done anything yet, but I will put in some work on our creation tomorrow.

So I had a decent design going, and then I realized I had misread the challenge. Starting over, but I'll hopefully have something going again shortly.

So I just finished a draft of the maze in the spreadsheet. I color-coded fake paths in purple and the actual path in light blue to help catch any mistakes I might have made. I tried to make the alternate paths as involved as possible, but feel free to tweak things!

Well shoot, it's mostly done! I will see if I can't find some tweaks to make so I can at least feel helpful.

Hmm. I think that a fair percentage of the wrong path work is invalidated if you just start at the end. Perhaps we should switch one of the incorrect areas to attach to that side instead.
