I'm really happy that the two people who seem to be coming back unless something changes, Oaki and Ancient Oven, are both not Power tribe people. We stan underdogs beating challenge beasts at their own (flash)game Yes, what did the power tribe exist for if not to get totally pulverized

4/7 power still in the game VS. 4/7 (soon) courage and 5/7 wisdom
not pulverized tbh

I've been ruminating on it and there's definitely a real game concept in the way Edge is being done here, just with the whole game being earning/losing lives, last player standing wins. Very The Challenge and I'm sure this idea has been run somehow and I forgot, but just a thing I've been thinking about!

We spent so much time trying to actually build something that wasn't just EOE (boring) and wasn't just RI (too quick of death) and so we built something somewhere in the middle.

I like it too. I definitely prefer it to a normal Redemption where you need to keep winning duels or an Edge of Extinction where you just sit around waiting for the challenge. Players eliminated later have an advantage, as they should, but all players do have a realistic chance and there is a margin of error. I might be somewhat annoyed if I was Pelison though that the previous round let people gain lives rather than losing them like normal, since in theory Ancient Oven and Riju could have had more lives than him despite being eliminated sooner.
I originally wasn't sure if I would like it because I thought if you were an early boot it would just draw out your misery when your real odds of making it back were functionally zero, but Magda actually was able to survive until the return challenge and had a serious shot at making it back.
The only thing is that, as much as Magda is a queen, I don't love the idea of people who only played a round or two and who didn't even meet the majority of people in the game becoming members of the Jury. These people could be nice objective people who are just able to vote based on speeches I guess, but more often I feel like they're going to be influenced by the other members of the Jury they meet and they are extremely likely to be biased in favor of people they actually knew during the game, giving some finalists really no chance at earning their votes.
With time I'm growing more fond of smaller Juries anyway, since the people who don't make it to endgame often have no clue what's going on and smaller Juries are much less predictable. When you're an underdog at FTC with a massive Jury to convince, that's an extremely daunting task and it can feel impossible, especially when large sections of it are made up of people you never met and who have been told how terrible you are by their friends. When you only have to convince a few people and they are people you spent significant time with and got to know, it can feel much less hopeless and the FTC results themselves can be legitimately surprising.
If I was designing this game, I might consider just not starting Jury until the second returnee(s). I know that would be unorthodox, but if you have two return at final 8, that would be a decent-sized Jury of 7 with a F3 or 8 with a F2.
I don't think you guys did anything wrong, this is mostly a matter of preference, but just some musings.

A lot of the RC design and general game outline was established before I joined the mod team but from what I gathered the general idea was to incorporate ideas from EoE including the idea of surviving players making Jury.
The numbers that we worked out for potential Jury members, this is one of the higher numbered juries we predicted and so as such we've got Jury members from very early in the game.
I think there's many pros and cons to having a larger Jury, one of the pros is that players who were eliminated much earlier are less likely to have a narrow-minded view on players of wanting revenge, they're more likely to want to pick a winner based on who has the best argument for why they played the best

We did also plan as many swaps and multi-eliminations to up the odds of people from early on either actually meeting finalists or being able to network into hearing information about the state of the game while not being entirely uninformed.

Yeah I get that. Like I said, it's just my preference. I think even in a normal, say, 10-person Jury, the first few Jurors often have no clue what was actually going on, so my bias is definitely towards smaller Juries regardless, but I have advocated for larger Juries in the past so I get it. I know players like being on the Jury, so for a lot of them, they probably prefer the Juror being larger.
I agree that in theory some early Jurors can be more open-minded, but I can't think of a time a Juror voted for someone to win who they didn't meet in the game, and maybe we don't have a large enough sample size, but right now we have two Jurors, Magda and Teebo, who haven't met over half of the cast, and to me that is problematic, especially since because they are both Power people, the people they have met are largely the same. That's a huge number of people at an extreme disadvantage in almost any FTC scenario because there are two votes they are incredibly unlikely to receive. Juries are difficult to manage enough, I think making them more random for players is probably not a great thing.

While I fully support the Magda survives against all odds revenge arc, I am sad Riju has now been the bridesmaid twice. She had the third highest score in lonks to return (albeit it wasn’t close) and now had just barely not beaten magda to retain a life.

Yeah I'm rooting for her to return, though it doesn't seem likely.
It's been so long since someone was actually eliminated though lol, so if we keep this up maybe she will return!

Oh, I'm fairly confident after the next challenge that multiple people will be eliminated.
It miiiiiiiight be the toughest challenge we've given them thus far. Emphasis on miiiiiiiiiight.

Actually it's impossible for multiple people not to be eliminated, no? Everyone but Link is on one life.

We will have our first 3 or 4 jury members after this round.
Also note for rc if they do this: im very sorry for this horribly difficult challenge.
